Israel Bonds Fashion Show

Dear loyal customers and friends:

Emilie and I were thrilled to be invited to feature our shoe collection at the Israel Bonds Fashion Show this past Thursday! What a fabulous venue for us to showcase our unique collection! Our angel of an employee, Paula LeBow, joined us, and all three of us had such a delightful afternoon. The event is annual and brings about 400-600 attendees. Our gem of a customer, Beth Sellman, was the  Chair of The Women's Division this year. She was her beautiful self in a fabulous red dress; "bottomed" off with our leopard pumps with red bow by Butter...she was a show stopper! Paula turned heads in her Ann Roth deep grey suede strappy heels; but not to be outdone was Emilie in her Giuseppe Zanotti high heel pumps with mosaic heel, and me in my Etro chocolate brown crocodile pumps. The fashion show was very colorful, and on the cutting edge, with Ruth Shaw and other boutiques from Cross Keys. We love Ray!!! The ladies from the show have already started to come in to The Little Shoebox to treat themselves to some of the wonderful shoes and boots that we currently feature! Thank you, Israel Bonds!!!

On another note, our Holiday and Resort shoes are starting to come in, so come by and take your picks...I say picks as plural, because you will not be able to stop at just one...it's OK, we completely understand :). Hope to see you soon! As always, many thanks to all of you for your loyal support!

What an event!

October is moving along at a quick pace, and The Little Shoebox hasn't skipped a beat! We had a fabulous lecture and luncheon event with Bettye Muller and Alexandra Deutsch (curator of The Maryland Historical Society), on Friday the 14th of this month.

The vintage shoes that Alexandra brought from the Maryland Historical Society's collection were amazing! Such delicate silks, satins and lace. What we found interesting, (but already knew), was the influence from the past into the present with shoe designs. Many of the shoes from the late 17th century and 18th century, could be compared with designs of today in the look of the heels as well as the toe boxes. Embellishments such as ribbons, laces, grommets and bows were as influential in the shoe designs of early days as they are today...and we have them at The Little Shoebox!

It was very gratifying to hear the questions and comments from those in attendance, as they engaged in discussion with Bettye Muller. She has certainly been one of our favorite designers, but it was apparent she captivated the audience as well!

Most of our Fall Collection is in the store and up on the website, so come in or check us out at thelittleshoeboxonline.com. We have a few more styles to arrive, but we are stocked and ready to meet your shoe and boot needs! Happily, we have been very busy lately, and lots of Little Shoebox bags have been going out the door...looks like we are going to see some well dressed ladies out and about this season!  As always, we are very appreciative of your loyalty and support!!!

April Showers

April showers are bringing more than May flowers!

As Passover and Easter approach, colorful shoes, accessories and sweet treats are in demand! Our spring collection has had a fabulous response , with clients loving the colorful flats and sandals, glossy high platform pumps and soft pastel suedes. We have introduced a line of cookie mixes, dips, and chocolate fondue; perfect for that special time with your little cookie lover, or greet your hostess with a delicious spring dip mix all wrapped and ready to go!

Emilie and I love hats, and have once again stocked the shop with our favorite wide brim raffia hats. Shade yourself from the sun, or top off that outfit with an Audrey Hepburn look! We are off to New York in a couple of weeks for The Accessories Show. Spring

April is here at last! I put a big vase of daffodils on my kitchen counter to remind me of spring, since the temperatures outside make us think of January!

If you step into our store, it does feel and look like spring- we have so many shoes in beautiful shades of pinks, greens and oranges- it is hard to decide which color to choose.

It is definitely not flip flop weather yet, but it certainly is time for flats!  Butter has done it again with  a fun flat with sequins-your go to shoe for the spring.

We have really creative teacher gifts and Easter gifts- that we couldn't resist -in the store as well. Check out the shoes on line , go buy some tulips or daffodils-put a spring in your step ,and stop our store!

Spring is coming!

New York, Here We Come!

Janie and I are on our way to the big city to buy for next fall, that's right fall 2011!

We can't believe we have to look at more suedes and leathers, when all we want to think about is spring , spring, spring, and sun, sun, sun!

Our shelves will soon be filled with all the bright and beautiful colors of the spring palette- brights to pastels, they will all be here!

The one must have of the Spring season (well there are a few) is the nude shoe. Strappy, d'orsay or peep toe.  You have to have one in your closet to make the line of your leg, long and lean.

Colors are hot;  pinks, greens and blues.  For all you wedding gals, put a pop of color on your brides maids or even under that long white gorgeous dress to delight and freshen the traditional styles.

Enough of snow, stop in and see the store;  you will feel the sun and see the blue clouds of summer peaking around the corner!

See you soon.
